Our laser technology operate on many wavelengths so can treat multiple conditions. For laser hair removal the Alexandrite wavelength of 755nm is ideal to effectively remove hair on lighter skin tones ( 1-3 on the Fitzpatrick scale).

Nd:YAG lasers
The Nd:YAG lasers mean the wavelength emitted is on the 1064nm UV spectrum. This allows the laser to safely penetrate deeply into the skin, by-passing the pigment to destroy the root of the hair follicle. Alexandrite laser hair removal (selective photothermolysis), refers to the infrared wavelength of the light spectrum. The wavelength number 755nm tells you how deep the light penetrates the skin.
The shorter wavelength of an Alexandrite laser, compared to an Nd:YAG laser at 1064nm, means it is riskier for darker skin.
This is because the laser absorption occurs mostly in melanin in hair but melanin is also in dark skin and haemoglobin. The laser therefore affects this and the hair -which you want to avoid when having laser hair removal.
